Is it necessary or better to remove wine before installing Crossover?
And thanks for the generous gift. I have only 3 windows apps, and a couple of
games I would use, but if any 2 of them work, I'll report success, and buy the next version!

No, you do not have to remove Wine.
Note however, if you have both Wine and CrossOver installed your desktop manager will have two apps to open .exe files with. You may have to change the priorities to make it prefer CrossOver over Wine(or vice versa, depending on what you want)
