I already have Crossover Standard 6.2.0 installed and downloaded the 7.1 Pro and Games versions from the Lame Duck promotion.
When I attempt to install, I receive this scary message:
"You are about to replace your current installation of this product with a demo version, which may impose a time limit or other restrictions on your existing version of CrossOver. This is almost certainly a bad idea! Are you sure you want to do this?"
Am I? I would guess that once the newer version is installed and I apply the registration code, all will be right again but I want to be sure before I wreck my current install.
You are right. You can install the 7.1 Pro download and simply register it.
(The warning should probably be removed, as it becomes more and more misleading. In the past, we offered preregistered versions for registered users to download, but nowadays all our downloads are demos which have to be registered. Sorry for the confusion)
Here's the strange thing now. On my Laptop both Pro and Games installed. On my desktop machine (also running Ubuntu 7) it would not. It seems to proceed without errors, asks for my email address and password, but simply does not change the version when I launch. I didn't have games before and it doesn't add it to the menu like it did on my laptop.
Please file a support ticket regarding this issue.
