No visible text?

Im currently running a Compaq r3000, Athlon 64 3200+, 1gig ram. Fresh install of Ubuntu 8.10 x64, gnome 2.24.1, nvidia binary driver.

I had a bad experience with Ubuntu 8.04, so i ran 7.10 (32bit) (ran very well, with crossover, all programs such as MS Office, Photoshop, tax software, etc) until the new 8.10 came out. So far i have been very pleased with my 8.10 version, except with crossover (i have version 7.0.1). When i run any windows program (including regedit) there is no visible text in the program... its just blank. Iv read on here a couple places to install text libraries, but no one explains how to do it, and their problems are slightly different than mine...

I have redownloaded, and reinstalled crossover a couple of times, to see if i just had a bad install, but to no avail, i have had the same problem with every install...

I need crossover to work, or i may have to install XP shudders... and i went to submit a support ticket, but i am no longer able to, because its been more than 6 months since i bought crossover, and since it worked fine on my 7.10 (32bit) system... is this a 64bit problem? or an intrepid problem possibly?

Here is a screenshot of my regedit... with a few random menus opened to show that there is no text anywhere...

of course, as soon as i break down and post on this forum i find my answer... it turns out my issue was related to the Oriya fonts... issuing the "sudo apt-get remove ttf-oriya-fonts" command and rebooting appears to have solved my issue
