I've tried Office 2003 and the format converter package from MS but Word 2003
is very unstable and either crashes or has font display problems.
I'm using crossover 7.1.0 under Fedora 10 and installing in the default
win2000 bottle.
Does anyone have any other suggestions ?
Well it looks like there's a web based solution: http://www.docx2doc.com/converters/docx-to-doc
The best option that I've found is open office -- http://www.openoffice.org/. The native linux version (3.0 or later) includes read support for pretty much all of the office 2007 formats. I've found that it works pretty well for just about all of the .docx documents that I've tried opening.
Or you could try
http://www.oxygenofficepro.com which takes openoffice and adds templates, cliparts, samples, fonts and VBA support.
Docx support is very good and the software is very stable.
