The best option that I've found is open office -- http://www.openoffice.org/. The native linux version (3.0 or later) includes read support for pretty much all of the office 2007 formats. I've found that it works pretty well for just about all of the .docx documents that I've tried opening.
Docx support is very good and the software is very stable.
