Text unreadable in Windows windows, using crosover 7.1.0 + ubuntu 8.10

I have a problem with unreadable text in Crossover 7.1.0 and Ubunutu 8.10. The problem didn't exist before I upgraded Ubuntu from 8.04.

Here is a shot of the Wine configuration program as an example:

I asked about it in #wine and I was told I needed to edit the registry, but that is a problem:

So I attempted to edit system.reg with a text editor and add the suggested keys:

 [Software\\Wine\\X11 Driver]
 "ClientSideAntiAliasWithCore"="N"
 "ClientSideWithRender"="N"

Alas, this had no effect.

I also tried installing the Core Fonts package into the bottle as suggested in some forum somewhere; also no effect.

Any ideas?

Burt

PS: Also, I couldn't make a ticket because the ticket system says I have Crossover Mac, but I don't have a Mac. I would appreciate it if someone could fix that.

Bump.

Just file a mac ticket and say that something went wrong there. We can fix the version in your account.

Hello,

I found that if you put the registry changes in user.reg instead of system.reg it works.

Good Luck,

Cappy

Hi, I am having the same problem.

I tried making the changes to the user.reg file but I have two questions.

  1. Which file do I change - the one in the "Default" directory or the one in the "win98" directory?

  2. When I edited the file and added the lines above and saved, nothing improved, and then when I went back to the file, the changes were gone.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am running crossover 7.1 on 64 bit ubuntu8.10.

.

I solved it -
go to crossover menu and run regedit as a "windows command"

add this
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\X11 Driver

and add the following lines:
"ClientSideWithRender" = "N"

then exit regedit
