Does the Latest Quicken for Windows Work in Crossover on Fedora?

Looking at the application database here and the forums is not giving me a good feeling about getting the latest version of Quicken for Windows running. I'm using Fedora and I've tried installing it under Wine (I'll put my information below) and, even though I've managed to get it to install, it errors out almost immediately on startup. Does anyone actually have Quicken working in Linux? Should I renew my subscription to Crossover for my current attempt at migrating to Linux? Anyway, here are the details of what I've tried in Wine:

Basically, Quicken starts, I get two error popups saying "Failed to resolve function RaiseFailFastException in KERNEL32.dll" followed by the program starting to do something (it's too fast to see), then two more of those same error dialogs. Then the program crashes.

I've tried this with the WINE distribution from Fedora's RPM (v7.5). Then I uninstalled that and used WineHQ's winehq_devel version (v7.6):

sudo dnf -y install dnf-plugins-core
sudo dnf config-manager --add-repo https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/fedora/35/winehq.repo
sudo dnf config-manager --add-repo https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/fedora/35/winehq.repo

I've got a fresh install of Winetricks:

cd "${HOME}/Downloads"
wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Winetricks/winetricks/master/src/winetricks
chmod +x winetricks
sudo cp winetricks /usr/local/bin

which I've confirmed is up-to-date with:

sudo winetricks --self-update

I've installed Quicken with winecfg set to the default Windows 7 and with the Windows 10 version (which, I think is what Quicken requires as a minimum).

The installation method I followed is what's in WineHQ's AppDB for Quicken 2020 Premier (which seems to be the latest entry). Essentially:
Create a new 32-bit wine prefix for the Quicken installation and install MS .Net Framework 4.6.1 using winetricks:

$ WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=~/.quicken-wine winetricks -q --force dotnet461

Change the Direct Draw Renderer to GDI using winetricks:

$ WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=~/.quicken-wine winetricks settings ddr=gdi

Patch the Quicken installer to prevent it from attempting to install the PDF print driver:

$ cd /path/to/installer/file
$ 7za x Quicken.exe
$ perl -pi.bak -0777e 's/NOT REMOVE="ALL"InstallPDFDriver/NOT_REMOVE="ALL"InstallPDFDriver/' "DISK1/Quicken.msi"

(BTW: if I don't patch out that PDF print driver, the install fails with an error code (which I don't remember, but think it was 1625)

Run the Setup.exe installer application:

$ WINEPREFIX=~/.quicken-wine wine DISK1/Setup.exe
At the end of that process, I both 1) let the program start immediately from the prompt, and 2) not let it run and then started it manually from the GUI. I've also 1) let it run immediately, and 2) not let it run, installed the Mondo Patch:

WINEPREFIX=~/.quicken-wine wine QW27.1.40.13MPatch.EXE

and then started it (both immediately from the end of the patch process and from the GUI afterward).

I saw where I'm supposed to run:

wine [program name] &> /tmp/log.txt 2>&1

for additional information. But, I don't know what to put in for the program name.

It's not much, but some of the information from the crash reports it generates follows:

And, here's some information on Quicken and the OS:

Quicken Mondo Patch QW27.1.40.13MPatch also downloaded from Quicken site

Operating System: Fedora Linux 35
KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.91.0

I wish I could help more, but I have the latest Quicken Home, Business and Rental Property installed on CrossOver, on Linux Mint 20.3, with no issues. Just to give you some hope.

Hi there,

The issues you are seeing have fixes in CrossOver's Wine but not in upstream Wine. We test Quicken on Linux regularly and we have plenty of good ratings for it. Please use our free trial and see if it works for you - you've got nothing to lose if for some reason it doesn't work :)

Best,
Meredith

Thanks to both of you for the comments. That does give me hope. The problem I have with renewing my Crossover subscription is that the only program I need (currently) it for is Quicken. So, it almost doubles my subscription cost of Quicken. I'll have to give it some more thought.

Again, thanks.

Well, I had no issues with it installed in the last Crossover version, either.

***SORRY DIDN'T SEE THIS WAS THE LINUX FORUM

I'm able to run Quicken 2022 Home & Business but have one outstanding issue that's a deal breaker. I can't print to a PDF file.

The Quicken PDF printer is there. I've reinstalled the Quicken PDF drivers according to its instructions. I've even tried another solution of PDF Writer for MAC. Both my "real" printer that works just fine on my Mac and the PDF Writer show up on the bottle with Quicken. All the correct dialogs come up, etc. Just when you actually say "PRINT" a quick printing box comes up but it never saves the file.... either to the Mac or to the C:\ drive on the bottle.

However, if I print from quicken to the real physical printer that's part of the Mac, it prints just fine.

Any ideas?
