Outlook 2007 - High CPU - Ubuntu 9.10 - Crossover 8.0.0-1

Outlook 2007 is functionally fine on my system; it works perfectly with Exchange (I'm really excited!)

The problem is consuming between 80 - 100% CPU, even when Outlook isn't doing anything:

  • OUTLOOK.EXE = 41%
  • wineserver = 39%

I have tried the following:

  • Clean install of Crossover and Office 2007
  • Installed both SP1 and SP2
  • Disabled all the add-ons in the Trust Center
  • Disabled auto-polling and junk mail filtering

Can anyone make recommendations on what I can do to reduce the CPU usage?

I don't know what logfiles would be useful, but I'll happy to collect anything required to get this working with a reasonable amount of CPU.

Thanks in advance,

Dean

I'm running into a similar situation. I'm using Ubuntu 9.10. I'm running Crossover 8 and Office 2k7 with SP1 and SP2 installed. OUTLOOK.EXE will often eat 100% of one of my CPUs, forcing me to run the "Terminate All Windows Applications" command.

I'm having this problem as well. Mine is a fresh install of Ubuntu 9.04, Crossover 8.0.0-1, Office 2007 Professional w/SP2.

I've got a dual-core 2.26GHz processor, 2GB RAM.

Occasionally Outlook recovers from this condition after waiting a few minutes, but usually it locks up.

I've forwarded this to our ticket system... but what we're particularly interested in what a person is doing with Outlook when it becomes unresponsive.

For me, if I choose a group of messages and delete them, switch to another folder and choose some messages and delete them and continue to repeat this I can put Outlook 2007 into a very bad state (which is worse on the Mac side).

We need to identify some behaviours that always reproduce problems with Outlook 2007 so that our developers can reproduce the problems in-house and work on them.
