I have Quicken 2020 (latest update) installed on Crossover 20.0.4.33197 on Intel Catalina 10.15.7 and it works perfect. Everything being the same, I am trying to install on BigSur 11.6.1 on Macbook Air M1. Everything installs correctly except for the warning below somewhere in the middle of the process. Quicken starts without a problem. I have problems after restoring my data file. The problem is that I can't get thru dialog to login to Quicken ID. My quicken file opens and displays the start screen, checks for update, none found, then tries to login to Quicken ID. A blank window opens and closes, and then quits. On both systems it is a Win7 bottle (Don't see anyway to change this).
Any ideas to get this working?
"Warnings:
Setup may not run properly, because the Windows Modules Installer Service is not available on this computer."
That error message appears during the .NET installation, and it's completely harmless. Do you see any error message in Quicken after installing on your M1?
And what is the exact problem? Is Quicken closing itself after launch? Or is just the sign-in window closing itself? If it's the former, then that sounds like a problem we fixed in CrossOver 21.
And for the sake of full transparency, we are aware of a problem with CrossOver with the latest Quicken update (R36.23) that will be fixed by CrossOver 21.1 later this year (it will be reaching beta soon).
Quicken starts up. Does a search for updates. Goes to Quicken home screen. Then it dies, "Quicken unexpectedly quit the last time it was run." This is Quicken R36.38. It runs fine on Intel Mac 10.15.7.
Thanks for the additional information. My best guess is that you are running into an issue that we fixed on CrossOver 21 where Quicken would sometimes crash on Big Sur. Please note that if you upgrade to CrossOver 21, it will be necessary to do a fresh install of Quicken there to see the fix.
I installed 21.0. It did not work. It works about the same as 20. I get Quicken update, then home screen, then failure. I do get error message, "Failed to resolve function RaiseFailFastException in KERNEL32.dll."
It sounds like you are running Quicken version R36.23 - that's the error message I am familiar with. Please open a support ticket for advice on how to get around this issue.
I just wanted to add my two cents - you're not alone, OP. This is exactly what began happening to me today, when Quicken opened up the pop-up for inputting my Quicken ID and password, for the first time in a few months. (Not the Quicken file password, but the online Quicken ID, which Quicken requires you to re-enter every few months to ensure your subscription is still active).
I'm on an Intel MB Pro (so this is not just an issue with Big Sur on Apple Silicon), Big Sur 11.1, Quicken 2020 R36.38, Crossover 20.0.4.
I receive "Failed to resolve function RaiseFailFastException in KERNEL32.dll" once the ID pop-up opens. I click to clear; it reoccurs multiple times until Quicken just shuts down.
I have opened a ticket as Meredith advised the OP, and hope CodeWeavers has a fix to offer.
Update: Version 21.1 beta indeed fixed this issue with the RUNDLL32 error. Tech support was great about going back and forth with me to figure out what was going on, and also referred me to an executive in the company, who provided a promo code to allow me to buy V21 at a discount, as I hadn't had V20 that long before the Quicken update broke it in that version.
If you are not a BetterTester, you can contact our support team through the ticket system. If users have active entitlements that would allow them to upgrade to 21.1 once it is released, then they can give you access to the beta.
I have been running Version 21.1~b1 (21.1.0.33847) for about 10 days on Macbook Air M1 with Big Sur 11.6.1 and Quicken R36.38. I have no problems except occasionally Quicken will just quit at startup during update processing. Restarting Quicken will usually get me through. If not, cancelling update always works.
This is failing on my Intel machine, too, so I don't think it's just an M1 problem. I am on Big Sur 11.6.1, Crossover 21.0.0.33720, and Quicken R36.38 and now I cannot start up Quicken at all anymore due to the DLL error.
I'm also kind of screwed because I didn't upgrade Crossover when it expired because we were in the middle of moving houses and I missed it, so I can't get a 21.1 update without paying the full upgrade fee. :( But 24 years of my financial data is kind of held hostage now, though, so I guess I will have to bite the bullet.
Edit: I deleted some files that were in my iCloud's Documents directory... a subfolder called "Quicken" with files "Crossover's Quicken Data.QDF", "crossover's quicken data_SyncLog.dat" and "Crossover's Quicken DataOFXLOG.DAT" and was able to start it up again without the DLL error and subsequent program crash. It asked if I wanted to start from an existing file or create a new file, and I was able to select existing file and my regular data file and seems to be ok now. Fingers crossed.
