Mac System Compatibility

I've run this app on two different machines.

Mac Pro Quad 2.66Ghz
8GB RAM
ATI Radeon X1900 512MB RAM
Mac OS X 10.5.2

The game runs great on this system. There are only two minor bugs:

1) When "glow" effect for buttons on overwatch status does not appear. Therefore
it is impossible to tell if the overwatch mode is on for your squads, which can
make squad management more difficult.

2) The "fog of war" seems to be off on the map. When you explore the map, the fog
of war seems to be off to the right and not over the actual area you explored. The
red and green dots appear in the correct areas, however.

iMac Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 Ghz
4GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 2600 256MB
Mac OS X 10.5.2

The game does not display terrain graphics properly. I think it has to do with the
graphics card. The game is pretty much unplayable as you cannot see any terrain at
all, just textures and polygons strewn about the screen in an incoherent manner. I
do not recommend playing this game on this particular system.

Hi,

I played on my imac intel CoreDuo 1.83 GHz with Radeon X1600 128 (DDR3) and for sure there are some small graphic gliches on terrain texture.

Anyway, game runs great also here :) Good Job!

fog of war problem seems nearly fixed in wine 0.9.58:

It's pitty that Crossover Games uses only the version 0.9.55 (released on February 8, 2008).
I know that Crossover needs test their releases, but is wine so buggy that it need a long test phase?

It's possible to update only wine in Crossover Games (plus copying additional DLLs)?

Partly

We're usually branching at some point, in this case after merging in the 0.9.55 patches. Then we stabilize and bugfix problems internally, before starting the beta. When doing that, we only cherry-pick selected patches from Wine. When the games do not have any issues left that will make beta testing hard / impossible, we start the beta, and when things are stable enough for our supported games we ship.

So we have roughly 2-3 weeks between branch and beta, and 2-3 weeks beta time, and with a wine snapshot every two weeks that gives 3 wine versions difference. The problem is that Wine is a very complex software. With games, we are sitting between two black boxes, the game, and the graphics driver. We cannot put changes in our product shortly before our release without extensive testing.

Not really, no. But we plan to regularly ship unsupported cxgames builds with the latest wine code for situations like this one here.

UPDATE: I upgraded to a GeForce 8800 GT in my Mac Pro. The glowing button issue is now gone, but the fog of war problem still exists. There is also an issue with text rendering where the top of each letter seems to be slightly cut off. Almost like a line on top o the whole word.

CrossOver Games 7.1 Update:

The fog of war and terrain issues on the 2600 XT are solved. The button glow problem still remains on the iMac Radeon 2600 XT.
