I installed it on Windows 10 64bit bottle. Steam version works out of the box.

I upgraded to ubuntu 18.04 (upgrade not clean install) and game do not start anymore, however if you browse from steam "local files" and start from there umvc3.exe (steam must work in background) - then it starts properly.
