You open Steam and log into your account before opening TF2 though, right?

You should not have anymore issues at this point.
As far as I understand, your backpack/inventory is stored on Valve's servers rather than locally on your system, maybe a little bit of both, and is tied to your Steam ID. This allows you to move to other computers and still have your weapons without losing them. Ex: In my PC Hardware class, we built a new computer and installed TF2 on the computer using my account and all my weapons were the same.
During the War Update, they took down the portion of the server that handles all this so that they could add the new crafting feature as well as the new weapons. As I was told by the Admin on the server that I play on, this happens pretty much every time they update a class.
You may experience the not connected to server issue for the next day or two. If you continue to have problems, post here and submit a bug report to the CodeWeavers team. Also, talk to other TF2 players first to see if they are having the same backpack problem.

Yes i can log into Steam before opening tf2ʻ
Itʻs kinda an Off and On thing you are probably right forrest, itʻs Steams problem
Anyway iʻll keep you guys updated if anything else occurs
Oh, okay. That's odd, maybe it'll fix itself? It could be the fault of the update.
This issued has resolved it's self. You should not have anymore involving the backpack. If you do have problems, please let us know.
