On iMac, full-screen but with unwanted titlebar?

I'm using the crossover trial at the moment, on a 2.4GHz 24" imac with 1GB RAM. I've having added the missing fonts as per the tips page, and have been playing quite happily with a mixture of high/middle/low settings, on fullscreen at the 2nd-highest resolution. It doesn't seem as pretty or responsive as under boot-camp though, so any tips as to things I can do to improve matters would be appreciated.
I'd give you fps values, but I can't seem to get the console to come up in-game, I've tried reassigning the key to no effect. Is this likely to be a crossover problem, or am I supposed to enable it somehow? (I've only just got Orange Box, I've never wanted to use the console when I was playing in bootcamp...)

When I play fullscreen though, I still have a silver title bar, with the X logo on that causes the equivalent size strip at the bottom of the screen to be pushed off - anything that can be done about this?

To enable the console, go to options in-game. Under the keyboard settings click "advanced." There's a check box for "Enable Developer Console" or something to that effect. Check it and click ok. Now press the tilde "~" button and you're in.

You can also pass "-console" as a launch option for the game, which is set in the Steam interface within the game's properties.

You probably need to visit the launch options, anyway, to fix the full-screen issue. There's a bug in CrossOver 6.2.x such that if TF2 tries to come up in full-screen at a resolution different than your native desktop resolution, the game screen is off-center. To work around that bug, we put the "-window" setting in TF2's launch options. You can still use full-screen, but you should use this sequence of steps:

  • Launch it with the launch options that we configure (which include "-window")
  • Set the video settings to full-screen at your normal desktop resolution. You may need to switch to a widescreen aspect ratio to access the proper resolution.
  • Quit TF2
  • Edit the launch options and remove "-window"

Now when you launch TF2, it will enter full-screen at the proper resolution and there won't be any window title bar.

The off-center issue with full-screen at other resolutions will be fixed in future releases of CrossOver, but it is still the case that switching from windowed to full-screen will leave a title bar.
