Macbook "fog" issue

I installed my brothers' copy of steam on my Macbook to see if it could handle TF2 and after some experimentation I have got it to work at 30+ FPS, but there is an issue which is always so persistant. Everywhere on any given map is what appears to be a blue or red fog (dependent on what "team" side of the map I'm on). I can navigate the levels fine, but haven't found any solution or similar cases of this fog. I wouldn't be trying to get this to work on macbook if it didn't run fast as it does.

Crossover is the only windows compatible program I've found that runs TF2 at all (both bootcamp and parallel's desktop will freeze).

I've taken a screenshot of this fog:

If anyone knows what the issue is or how to fix it, please let me know.

This is with the new Macbook that came out just after leopard was launched.

Hi,

Did you tried in the Steam Game properties to set to -dxlevel 81 ?

Ciao

Yes, I had that running when I took that screen capture.

I've accidentally answered your other post in the general crossover forum, instead of this one here.

What you see here doesn't seem to be a fog problem, it's more like the world fails to render entirely. It is propably caused by a driver bug. We want to do some driver bug hunting triage for Crossover 7.

The Intel GMA card is pretty low on our radar regarding gaming because usually it doesn't deliver playable framerates. You say that the framerate is quite good, which puzzles me a bit. The good framerate might be caused by the lack of rendering however, 30 fps sounds way too good for TF2.

For now I can give you only the usual I-don't-know-any-better-answer suggestions: Check if there are some Updates available you haven't installed yet, and try to run the game with -dxlevel 80 instead of 81. -dxlevel 70 will not work with TF2 unfortunately, it requires 80 minimum.

It typically runs from 20-45 FPS which surprised me. Thanks for the insight, anyways.

I've tried all the mentioned graphic settings and nothing changes it. I guess I'll just wait and see if a solution comes around in the future.

Something that I found out, that I hope will be of some help for a fix, is that the maps cp_canyon and cp_junction consistently load properly for me, and are perfectly playable. The remaining maps, however do not, and I get the same "fog" issue as stated above.
Looking forward to having it straightened out :D!
