Bug TF2

Hi, everybody.
I want to congratulate all the support of Crossover for Mac (and Games), you work too good and the support is great.
I have a problem recently, Team fortress 2 suffers a lot of crashes, reason: Steam update (i think, after that update, i have this issue)
What i can do to fix this? because i didn't had any problem with Team fortress 2 before.

Thanks you very much for your support

Yup, I'm having the same issue..

Dang, so now we have two reports of the same issue. It seems that the update broke something. I hate when this happens.

What graphics cards are you using, and did you change any special settings(Like enable dxlevel 90)?

Tried it with both dxlevel 90 and without and same thing.
Running a GeForce 8600M GT.

.

Can you open the activity monitor and watch the process list? Order the List by virtual memory size, with the biggest size on top. Run TF2 windowed, so you can keep watching the list, and see if the VM size reaches 4.00 right before the crash.

got up to 3.89 when it crashed..
740/3.78 that time.. audio starts to stutter then it exits into steam.

Ok, so no VM problems - would have surprised me. Does the problem also occur if you start your own empty server? Do you see the crashes on all maps, or only some? What about other HL2 based games, like basic HL2?

Crashes with different maps, different classes and different servers.

In an empty server I start it seems stable .... rocket jumped for 8 mins or so .. joined a random server online and it crashed in under 2 mins.

What strikes me is that the Steam update caused this - TF2 apparently was not changed. I'm sorry, I am out of ideas right now. I'll need some feedback from MemoBox or other people to find a pattern.

No problem .. its just off that it's worked for months fine through all the updates etc then today steam updates when I launch it and then the crashes start :/

I reverted to a default autoexec and config etc and it's still happening.

Same thing happening here as well, crashes about 2-5 minutes into any map that I've tried (dustbowl, 2fort, arena_something, gold rush) either to the desktop w/ the steam window, or a black screen w/ the steam window.

running:

MacBook Pro, 2.5 intel duo, 4GB Ram, Intel 8600M GT, OSX 10.5.7.

i've tried dxlevel 80, 81, 90, same result each time. GLSL enabling generates a black screen w/ music and mouse.

Worked beautifully prior to the small steam update I DLed tonight.
Thanks for taking the time to read and respond to all of these, I know this isn't your fault.

Sam! reported in the advocate forum that the same Steam update broke TF2 on his Windows installation. Granted, his symptoms are different - TF2 dies on startup, rather than during playing. Maybe it is truly Valve's bug, in which case I guess they will fix it soon. If anyone of you has a Windows installation to check that might be worth a try.

Besides this, it is interesting that it appears to happen on Geforce 8600 cards(I guess that's what you mean Jamie, right? There's no intel 8600 GT).

haha, this is what i get for posting in the wee hours of the morning.

yes, a GeForce 8600GT. apologies.

Really it's the update, i hadn't have problems before.
I have a Ati Radeon 2600 Pro iMac 20' (After Nvidia's iMac)
I don't think that is a error from valve, is a error from steam, really, and only for us, for mac
That's because my friends have a lot of playtime in the servers.

The issue is: Steam Update.

Thanks for your support.

Hi i fixed that:

I have put in Launch settings: -dxlevel 81

Then in grafics:

Texture: Medium
Model: Medium
Bilinear.

And no crashes now (for now)

Hope that you can fix this, I played tf2 with full grafics before this error.

Thanks

*EDIT 13/06/09: You can play more minutes only. it doesn't fix with this, we need to wait a crossover games update (around this week), see this thread: http://www.codeweavers.com/support/forums/general/?t=25;msg=54559

Yep. I have this exact problem.
When I first noticed the problem about two nights ago, I was getting ~15 minutes of play.
Then the game would freeze and repeat the same second of sound and TF2 would just disappear.
I play windowed by the way. Just in case it means anything.
Each time I tried to run TF2 again the amount of time I've been able to stay in a game lessened.
Yesterday, TF2 couldn't even make it past loading a server. :\

Before I stumbled upon this thread I completely removed CXG and started from scratch with a new bottle and everything.
That didn't do anything.

So it really must be Steam's update. D:

I don't think waiting for Steam to fix this will do any good, because I don't think they will.
They probably don't even know.
My friends who run TF2 on a PC are unaffected by Steam's update.
The Steam update must be conflicting with some CXG codes. :[

Glad to see that this problem is getting some feedback from what seems to be main developers, though. ^^
Hope to see fixes soon. :3
