TF2 Startup Crash

When i launch TF2 i get through the Valve Logo and the Source Logo and immediately after that it crashes...i've tried -window and changing the -dxlevel so far nothing has worked. I just bought the game and i haven't gotten to play it once... i really hope it's not my graphics card...any help would be much appreciated...

My info is:
Processor: 2GHz Intel Core Duo
Memory: 1GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

Are you using a Mac or Linux? Which version / distro? Which graphics card are you using?

Sorry....I'm using an original Macbook and my Chipset Model is a GMA 950....hope that's all the info you asked for lol...not much of a computer wiz...

I am new to this, but if I understand this correctly all you need to do is add "-novid" to the launch options without the quotations. I have a Macbook with a gma 950 as well and have read that crossover has a problem with the opening video with the valve and source logos, so this will keep that from starting and just take you to the main menu. I hope this works.

Yup that did it! thanks!

Hi, I also have Problems starting TF2. But my Problem is not the video, if I start TF2 with the novid-option it draws a frame and crashes. If I remove the novid-option it show me the Video but afterwards it crashes.

OS: Ubuntu 8.10 64bit
CPU: Core2Duo E6400@2,13ghz
Board: Asus P5B Deluxe
Gfx: NVidia 8800 GTS 640MB
Ram: 4gb

I tried this with the latest Crossover Games

I'm having the same problem!! Please, someone help!! I bought this game and now I can't even play it.

I'm running on a MacBook Pro Version 10.5 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4Gb RAM and I have an NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT.

Have you tried running in fullscreen?
I had a similar problem in Day of Defeat. It crashed without errors after the videos.
Adding "-fullscreen" as launch options fixed it for me.

For ubuntu ..um..

type glxinfo to see if 3d rendering if enabled.
few reasons if 3d rendering is disabled
XGL running in background
No driver or using a generic driver
Pluseaudio running in background (old issue)

Just curious..Jeff..umm isnt the intel integrated intel GMA 950 graphic card underpowered when it comes to running hl2 mod games?
