how does this game have a ranking without even being out yet?

Hi,

If you read the other thread here, 'dablackfox' has ranked the beta/pre-release
version of this title. While I don't necessarily agree with ranking a beta/non-final
version of a game/app (anything could change between 'beta' and 'final' and what works
now may not work in final), the advocate has gone to lengths to identify what's being
tested -- no doubt when the title -does- go to release, the medal ranking will be
updated again...against the current version of Crossover Games...

Actually according to the other thread he doesn't have a copy of the beta either. Meh...I just can't wait for the game. I signed up for the beta testing, and frankly I think all of us who are interested should do so. Just because we can't officially say "this is what the game looks like enjoy" doesn't mean we can't say hey the beta works or doesn't work and this is why so that when the game is brought out we have an idea on how to get it running asap. I don't think that Bioware will have any issue in swearing us to secrecy about the games content and letting us test it considering if we get it working on Mac, and linux boxes it will mean more sales for them.

Mmh...now that I read that thread carefully again, you're probably right...it's
a bit gray as to what is being tested, and >for sure< you don't want to grab a
possibly illegal torrent of the game to test that (who knows what may be in one
of those things, and that may be a good way to upset bioshock as well =) It is
however still fraught with danger checking out/judging beta releases -- if the
developer is going to use a DRM mechanism, that may not be incorporated yet, and
the game itself in beta might be relying on directx9 library calls, which upon
release, might get substituted for directx10/11 calls instead - you never know...

Ergo..'gold' is presumptuous at best, but as I say, it has been identified that
the final version has not tested yet, and in my mind silver would be more of
an appropriate medal ranking at this time -- I may however bounce the question
to one of the Codeweavers Ninjas to see what the official stance is regarding
ranking a game/app that's still in beta and subject to change...

The game comes out next year so there is no point in downloading a copy.

There are no copies since bioshock have done almost all beta testing in closed beta.

I will update the score for this game when the beta is released and after i have tested and screen shotted it.

If i do not get into the beta i will reduce the score down to bronze until i can, on release day when everyone is buying it i will be testing and reviewing it on windows before linux and i will be recording both tests to post on youtube

lol i changed to bronze as its not released yet and not known to not work, hopefully that will suffice for now.

Personally, I don't think that the game, any game should be rated even before its released. Although, I would like to see if the game would run on a Mac, without resorting to BOOTCAMP. From what I have seen, it looks good, but...

WOW!! $60 for the "Standard" Game and $150 for the "Collector's Edition" is rather bloody high!! Only one month free sub, and no idea what the monthly sub is going to be. They always make you pay up front from more time past the month, so, you don't even know if you are even going to like the game.

Of course in the SWtOR forums are ablaze with comments and some complaints about there not being a Mac Client, which is odd since EA and Bioware are really good at putting games out for both PCs and Macs.

yeah i made the mistake of raiting it when it was in beta, the game ran fine up until release. since then i have had to do a few things but its running perfectly fine now. i dont even need to pach the files in wine anymore. i will make a crosstie for it then i will re-rank this program as gold.
