Some problems after last update

I need your help.
After the last update of TOR, I couldn't run TOR. I'm launching swtor_fix.exe, as always, and the game. But the only icon appears and nothing more happens, no any windows.
Already update Crossover to the last version.

Hello Dimitry,

I noticed that under wine 2.13 as well. The bug is being tracked with Bug Number: 43469 in bugs.winehq.org and installation on Linux is also currently impossible. Apparently there is a patch available but it is not clear at present when it will make its way through wine-staging -> wine-development-version -> wine-stable.

I will notify Codeweavers about this as well as it is a fairly popular game with a lot of votes.

I think this is a problem with the game itself and has nothing to do with CrossOver. Let me check the official forums again.

Ok, this seems to be a problem with CrossOver, as the program now patches perfectly normal on the same computer under Win 10. We need to wait on a patch from Codeweavers.

this is a wine problem apparently https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43469 ...at least for me even using wine-staging-git on arch (with that patch, I think), it wont even open anymore ...same with none -git version

(before this everything has been working out of the box with the wine-staging)

edit/update: the latest patches that was just added/merged to staging does work now

I followed the link you posted, but don't really understand what's being said. Is there a way to fix it now (are we supposed to download those three items and drop them in the SWTOR folder?)? Or is there a fix coming...?

Also, is it feasible to switch to windows 8 bottles? Would that negate the problem we're having here? It seems like everyone on reddit is bashing XP like we're trying to play the game on super nintendo cartridges or something...

I don't know how any of this works. I only use wine/codeweavers for SWTOR.

for now the only way to play SWTOR is to use latest git version of wine -staging, or just wait for crossover to patch their wine so until then..
but if know how to compile (git) pkgs yourself or know where to get precompiled one for your distro, just open "launcher.exe" (where all the swtor files are located) with wine-(staging-git) instead of crossover and it should work just fine...there is no need to re-install SWTOR

one great thing about wine-staging is that swtor works "out of the box" now, aka you don't even need "swtor_fix.exe" file either.

PS. this launcher update seems to be affecting XP and vista users also, I don't know if this is temp. thing for them but could be that those windows version aren't supported anymore, I myself "use win7" on my wine (which is the default one currently)

I just tried to run the launcher through staging and it appears to have the same issue as code weavers. I open the launcher but it doesn't appear. As soon as I click another window or program wine staging disappears from the bar.

I think I installed it right. I downloaded XQuartz and Wine Staging, and then a couple of things staging said it needed when I attempted to run the launcher (gecko and something I don't remember). But it doesn't want to work for me... I also rebooted. And then tried it a few more times. I don't know...

Going back to the SWTOR forum to see if I can find another fix.

Do you have some news for us?

It is not a trivial fix. It is how the program is signed. In the old days of XP the SHA1 signing method was considered secure. Microsoft has issued last year some guidance for the future. Bioware decided that they were going to use the guidance and sign the program with SHA256. The encryption provider that handles SHA 266 is not in the wine and crossover software.

Codeweavers is aware and they are looking in to adding that. But it will take a new crossover version to fix this or for Bioware to switch back.

Thank you, Yuri. So I guess we're hosed for now.

PS: Just tried 17.0 Beta 1 and it doesn't fix the issue as of yet. I guess we have to sit tight and play the waiting game...

Great! My premium account will come to an end, and I have to buy a new version of crossover...

Thanks for the explanation.

Yury, reinstall from XP bottle on win 10 can solve this problem?

I tried Win 7 - 32 bit, win 7 - 64 bit, win 10 - 32 bit , win 10 64 bit, without success

There is a temporary solution i've found on https://www.reddit.com/r/swtor/comments/6qyz4v/certificate_authentication_failure/dl976zi/ ,written by AgentRG. But it will work only till October.

I have to re-install an application?
Just I put these files and nothing happens.

You don't have to reinstall app. Put those files into the SWTOR folder on drive c, delete file patch 2017 bla bla, and download and paste launcher.settings file.
