Launcher installs and launches, but crashes after a few seconds

I've been able to install and launch the RSI Launcher (v1.5.1) for Star Citizen. It seems to work at first, but after a few seconds it will crash. Has anyone got it working?

I'm currently on Crossover 21.0 (21.0.0.33720), MacBook Pro M1

Crash report: https://pastebin.com/e903WxHW

Aww man, this would be great. As soon as there are reports of this working I'd give it a try.

Star Citizen running would be enough to start promoting CrossOver on every SC forum. There are a lot of M1 users wanting SC running on macOS. I currently have MacBook Pro M1 Max

I too am a Star Citizen fan running a M1 pro max. If theres anything I can run and test, more than happy to. I am very keen to see if this could work

Hey brother do you find a way to run Starcitizen on macOS? I have a M1 max

It's possible to bypass the launcher using a valid installation on a Windows system.

With the game running (after logging in, clicking play and waiting for the game window to open), within C:/Program Files/Robert Space Industries/StarCitizen/LIVE is a file called loginData.json.

Placing this file within the same directory within the Crossover Bottle, means it's possible to launch C:/Program Files/Robert Space Industries/StarCitizen/LIVE/StarCitizen_Launcher.exe instead of the standard RSI launcher `C:/Program Files/Robert Space Industries/RSI Launcher/RSI Launcher.exe.

I've tested this on Windows, (launching using StarCitizen_Launcher.exe and bypassing the RSI Launcher.exe), but unfortunately, things still crash.

Here is my crash log -> https://pastebin.com/nKDcpbyn

I think the problem is converting M1 (Metal) technology to the AVX Intel chip used by Star Citizen's Directx11/12. If you can do that, you are much further than the competition, but I think that's where it fails and that's why the game doesn't work.

Hi all,

This game uses Easy Anti Cheat, which will prevent it from working with CrossOver :/

Best,
Meredith

Have tested the current BETA (crossover-2220220808-unstripped.zip), but also without success. The error is the same, apparently it must be the Directx.

I am also on M1 Max 64GB RAM and 32 Core GPU on Metal 3 Ventura Beta testing 13.0 and Crossover 22.0.1, install Star Citizen and it install all .NET no problem until trying to install star citizen, it shows Wine error I assume which I just skip that and went ahead to complete it then tried to launch it then it shows only white screen launcher. I could not log in or see anything. I quit RSI Launcher then right click "Run with Options..." or you can click the same way on the right side of the screen next to Run Command, then enter the command line that I used previously in Linux and it's on Reddit as well:

--use-gl=osmesa

Run the game and launcher pop up just fine, I can see the whole launcher that I could just type in my login but it won't let me because Wine Debugger popped up saying Program Error with RSI Launcher.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close... As soon as I click close, launcher box turn white and I cannot see anything again. I will definitely be playing with this and test some more with latest beta crossover to see if this helps. I am also Star Citizen fan as well and I know this will run well on this machine, look forward to work on this all together. 😀

Tested this again

CrossOver Version 22.0.1 (22.0.1.35507) - I reinstall Star Citizen with the latest installation which is RSI-Setup-1.6.1.exe with recent CrossOver update to fix .NET errors which isn't the case for this game. Run the command that I use above along with this RSI Launcher.exe and it run buttery smooth for like 3 to 5 seconds with the launcher open and I typed in my login credentials but it froze and crash with

Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to 0x0000000000331000 in 64-bit code (0x000001426bd899)

I assume something to do with page file so I went into this C: drive folder > Windows > regedit.exe then went to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management

double click to edit pagefile.sys 28 77 (numbers may vary)
the format is <location> <initial size> <maximum size>

I change it to pagefile.sys 32000 32000 (I have 64GB RAM) then I test run and it still gives me the same error. Must be something else I am not aware of, still researching different ways to solve this or it could be the wine developer from CrossOver that we can't do until they fix this. Maybe I should send a ticket to CrossOver about this? I am still new to this by advocating this game as a tester.

EDIT: I've sent a ticket to CrossOver, lets see if there's anything 😋

Hi Joel,

As I mention above, there is no way this game will run using CrossOver since the game uses Easy Anti Cheat :/

Now that apple has released the Game Port toolkit, and Apple silicon can support Dx12. I also note that Anti-cheat apple support should be on the horizon. Any updates on this?

DirectX 12 and anti-cheat are not related. The game developer would have to remove anti-cheat or make changes to allow it to run with Wine.

Any feedback with the last version of SC + Crossover 24?

Apparently there is work around for ESC. The biggest issue is not the anti cheat for the moment.
