Update video card? doesn't work screen full of colors

Hi I can't even play because as soon as i launch rift it flashes all sorts of colors until coming to the character selection you can still hear the music and I can see my characters user name in the top left but that is all it said something about updating my video card how do I do that cause I tried and it didn't seem to work

I can log in but it is black with flashing colored names how do I fix this [delicious candy] I payed 15 dollars just to log in [fabulous] rift? I don't think so

first and most important question - what type of graphics card do you have?

secondly - you are using a Mac? or a Linux machine?

thirdly - I'd recommend that you try editing "LegacyRenderer" to "True" as described in the "Renderer Failure" item under "Quick Fixes to Common Issues" at the following link:

http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=8390;tips=1

Also, the best way to contact our support department is by filing a support ticket, which you can do here if you're a licensed user of Crossover:

And, lastly, we will edit any offensive language in our public forums (as above)

Sorry about that I have the 2011 macbook pro with an Intel HD Graphics 3000 384MB
Memory is 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3 and Processor is 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7. Also I have tried setting it to true and the same problem persist.

I'm afraid RIFT won't work with the Intel HD chipsets - the drivers for these chips on the Mac can't handle all of the necessary openGL extensions.

See "Graphics Card Compatiblity", here - http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=8390;tips=1

That's well below the minimum requirements for the game. The lowest supported Intel card for this game running in Windows is the X4500. See: http://www.riftgame.com/en/game/faq.php

There is a world of difference between the HD 3000 and the X4500 unfortunately... not just for Crossover, but even for native Mac games. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_GMA#GMA_3000 Basically it's a pretty basic low end card that is fine for desktop use, but not good for gaming.

So what you guys are basically telling me that I spent 2,500 dollars on a crappy macbook pro that can't even run rift jesus I can imagine what pc could offer for 2500, but also I must add this computer contains another video card,AMD Radeon HD 6750M with 1GB GDDR5 I just don't know how to switch between the two.

I have found out how to change it to that video card, AMD Radeon HD 6750M with 1GB GDDR5, and the problem still continues

In that case, I'd guess that either the RIFT bottle doesn't contain all of the necessary components, or that the LegacyRenderer option wasn't actually applied. That Radeon HD 6750M ought to be good enough to run the game.

Go to Crossover's Configure>Manage Bottles menu. You should just have one "RIFT" bottle, but if you've got more than one you'll want to find the "right" one and delete the others (you can delete bottles using the "-" key in Manage Bottles). A properly-installed RIFT bottle should have the following components:

Crossover HTML Engine
DirectX9
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable
Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable
Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable -x86 9.0.210022
RIFT
RIFT
TrueType font: Andale mono
(and then a series of other true type fonts)

If you've got just one RIFT bottle, please confirm that it contains all of the above components, and that the "rift.cfg" file has "LegacyRenderer" set to "True".

If your RIFT bottle does not have all the proper components, you can install what's missing into the bottle using the general principles outlined, here:

http://www.codeweavers.com/support/wiki/mac/mactutorial/unsupported_deps

Not sure if this was resolved for the OP, but it was corrected for me by installing DirectX 9 into the Rift bottle via 'manage bottles' (it must have errored during the original installation).

Thanks!
