Working again in 8.1.4, Mac OS X 10.6.2

After over a year of not being able to get PS:T to run at all in Crossover, I was able to get it running mostly-flawlessly on a brand-new 27" iMac running Mac OS X 10.6.2. Details are long and somewhat involved, but I wrote up a full report of the setup. Any input from other people trying this (or any other successful procedure) would be appreciated.
