COG Mac + Perfect World question..

Hi all,

I know several people have been able to get this going, but I'm having some trouble.

Ok, I downloaded the PW international installer. Ran it, and it decompressed into a PW international install folder (that it placed on my desktop)

So then I went and tried to run the install.exe in the PW folder on my desktop to do the install. Just bails. Nothing happens, nothing is installed, installer just exits.

I must be doing something wrong. I've created a bottle for it - do I need to install something special into the bottle for it to work?

Good question actually.

When I downloaded it, I downloaded the four part installer and ran it that way (and it decompressed each piece). It successfully installed and I was able to play several times (although I haven't recently... ). You will need a current version of DirectX in that bottle. Also, the servers update often and the splash screen for logging in can be confusing about the status.

Ok, so let me ask you - so I understand - I'm really new to COG osx, and in my 7 day trial =)

If I download the 4 part installer - do I run each individual of the 4, or just run the first and it will handle the rest?

Also the directx, do I have to manually install it with a download from MS or is there something in COG that handles it?

First, let's start with DirectX because you'll want that in your bottle before you go any further.

You will need to enable your packages within CrossOver Games.

To do this, go to CrossOver Games->Preferences

Highlight 'Installer Assistant'

Uncheck 'Hide service packs and dependencies'

Close the 'CrossOver Games Preferences' window

Go to Configure->Install Software...

Choose DirectX from the list and choose to put it in a new bottle (that you should name something resembling 'Perfect World')

Now that you have DirectX, you can choose to 'Install Unsupported Software' and point CrossOver at the first Perfect World installer file (making sure to specify that you want it in the same bottle that DirectX is in). Once the first installer is started, Perfect World knows how to find the other installers (assuming they are all in the same location) and it will do what it needs to do with each.

If you have more questions, just let me know or send an email to info@codeweavers.com and reference this thread... anyone here can pass your email on to me or help you with more specific instructions. Congratulations on trying CrossOver Games, I hope you like it as much as I do!

Ok, I've made progress =)

My issue right now is that for some reason, the language appears to be set wrong. All the buttons have little boxes on them for each character. I'm not sure if I obtained the wrong version of the game (I thought the international version was the one I was supposed to get) or if I still have a setting wrong...
