Well....
After getting the game downloaded, install.exe WILL open and DOES install the game properly. You can then run launcher.exe and it will open up the patcher and patch the game properly also. If you click start, the game will start up, but then it goes REALLLLY slow and eventually freezes. Maybe it's just my computer though?
I am able to play it!
My character is already level 2. Still trying to figure out some bugs though. I didn't experience any slowing down, although the game crashed a couple of times.
My system: iMac 2Ghz Core Duo with a Mac 10.4.11 OS; 1.5GB RAM; ATI Radeon X1600 128MB. All specs are stock except for the upgraded RAM.
Edit:
Update: I have been in-game for quite some time WITHOUT CRASHING!!
I think this game is NOT "Known not to work"
For me the game downloaded, installed, and loaded with no problem. However, after I get past loading the game I get an error notice from within the game. It says that I can't load the page. Then I get a send an email to the developers thing, and when I hit cancel the program shuts down.
I'm not sure if its because I'm using crossover or not, or if its an issue within the game itself.
I already sent an email to the game developers on the problem.
Has anyone else had this issue?

Nope, I didn't have this issue. Only issues now are the world map (Alt+M) not displaying properly and the item and skills icons. Basically, it is playable without crashing. Haven't had a single crash the whole day. (I only started playing this yesterday in mac)
Game developer does not offer support for mac users :( This is what someone from Perfect World International said:
"We encourage Mac user to tinker and get the game working for them.
We can't offer support for it, but personally, I don't mind at all with Mac gamers helping other Mac gamers out with all of the tech hurdles."
John what are the exact preferences that you are using when operating this game (note that I really want this to start working) having been around Emulation much, I know that different preferences affects the program differently.
What kind of bottle are you using for example.
hey how do u even get it to work on a mac can u plz explain as much as you can i really want to play the game
i hav crossover games but dont what where and how to get the game to work any help would be really appreciated
yea..I got it to download and everything, and it installed the latest patch. But when I hit start, it loads thens quits and gives me an error report form to send to PWI. any ideas? id really like to get this game working.
Hi Josh,
I got the exact same problem (with both PWI as well as the "multilanguage service" version).
Sadly, I couldn't figure out yet, what's causing that and how it's working for John.
What I tried with no effect: adding core fonts and these directx things the app offers to download.
Also, when I launch the game via "run command ..." I get the message "the command ...[rest of path].../launcher.exe returned 2" with no further explanation.
I'd really like to know what 2 means ...
I'm sorry, I can't help you (or myself, for that matter ;) to get it to work yet.
I just thought I'd reply so you know somebody else actually stops by here.
Should I be able to get it to work somehow, I'll post how.
I still hope somebody else will beat me to that, though.
Best reagards,
Alyce

It's hard to know. The program may be using an error code that's only meaningful to its developers. However, if it's using standard Windows error codes, then 2 means "file not found". For what that's worth.
Mine gets to the patcher and when I press start, the window for the game pops up, ALMOST loads fully and then I get an error report send request. >:/

Hmm, I'm pretty sure the file's there though. I mean I selected it myself and it's part of the normal game files, so ...
I'm still clueless as to why it simply works for John and not for the rest of us, since he said he didn't add anything to the bottle, and just runs the game on its lowest settings (same as I tried).
=[
I got it installed and everything. Game comes up fine, but no mouse movement.
Ive got it to patch up to 114 the newest one but does anyone have a tip how to fix the start and the send report problem? For the people who got it to work could you right down the process you did or are doing to start it? Thanks. Ive troubleshooted alot and still nothing it keeps giving me the send report after it loads the screen. I get the PWI screen and notice with nothing inside, and i also cant see my mouse on the screen, but thats when it crashes and gives me the send report thing.
Alright, just re-downloaded and reinstalled....
First, choose to install DirectX into a new bottle. Name it something memorable like 'Perfect World'.
Now, choose to 'Install Unsupported Applications' and make sure that the new bottle with DirectX in it is used when specifying the installer for Perfect World.
Great, the game is finally installed, woo hoo! Er... it keeps crashing on me when I try to update.
Don't let it auto update.
You want to 'Manually specify' the server as 'patch', but still don't let it auto update.
Now, click on the button that says 'Upd.Sets.'
Verify your settings (you should not need to change anything) and close the window. When Perfect World asks to auto update, allow it to this time. I have no idea why this makes a difference, but it does.
It takes a long, long time to patch. The latests versions available for download are 37 & 39 and the game is currently on version 41. Previously it has taken days to fully patch. It may look like your progress bar is not moving, be patient, it is.
Really, that's all I've got right now.
.....
Except... some people are getting boxes instead of text. I have not been able to reproduce this (works for me! Don't you hate it when your mechanic says that...). However, my suggestion is to install the 'Core Fonts' package into the bottle. It should help, but it may not.
Good luck, I'll try to do a better job of watching this thread. If you don't get a response, I'm in IRC on freenode in #crossover Monday thru Friday 8am to 4pm CST. Please don't email me, your email will get lost in the sea that is my inbox. If you want to reach me email info@codeweavers.com and I'll do my best to get you an answer in a timely manner.
I have gotten everything working, including the boxes problem.
I put DirectX 9.0c and Core Fonts into the same bottle as Perfect World and now the launcher and patcher both work in English. Once I click start on the patcher to start the game it goes to the loading page and then an error report shows up. Has anyone solved this problem. PLEASE let me know :).
How about the problem of crashing after the loading screen?
Please let me know if you figure anything out.
Can you tell me where to find DirectX and Core Fonts to download please, thanks!
For me, I'm unable to even install it :/ it just returns some table Cant create C:\program files\perfect world entertainment\ Perfect world , and the n it just uninstalls... same problem that i have with Jade Dynasty
I have the boxes problem, if I can get that solved it will probs run. Lol its hard to hit the right button when you dont know what they say.
I was really hoping it would work now since pw is in list, but still the same problem...
I am almost lvl 90 now.
I have winxp and win98 bottles installed and Perfect world runs on both bottles.
I installed ATI drivers for my ATI graphics card into the bottles.
I also set the game's graphics settings to its lowest (graphics is not at all bad even with the LOWEST SETTINGS).
When I go to "Manage Bottles", applications installed are:
I rarely crash. Probably a total of less than 10 crashes (the "stop sign" error msg from the game client) all throughout the months I've played this game.
Problems encountered:
With regards to slow update, you can manually download the patch from Perfect World International and manually install the patch. [MANUAL DOWNLOAD IS WAY MUCH FASTER than auto update]
By the way, I am running Crossover Games 7.1.1 (I was able to test 7.2 but my trial expired already - the icons and mouse pointer are working perfectly but I prefer the 7.1.1 rendering of in-game overall graphics)
I've almost managed to fix the loading crash. go into the perfect world bottle, open winecfg and go to graphics, check the emulate virtual desktop, and put in the screen resolution on your computer. apply and close that. open perfect world, go into settings, check windowed, then for size, choose a smaller size than the window. confirm. start. loading... Notice... crash. so close. I have yet to get to the login screen. the cursor never appears.
