Despite the fact that the Pazzles Inspiration software runs under Crossover/wine, it cannot talk to the Pazzles cutter.
The Pazzles cutter has an USB port which announces itself as a FTDI USB-to-serial adapter (0x0403:0x6001). But the Inspiration software doesn't speak to the cutter through a COM port, so the Crossover/wine symlink trick won't work. Inspiration uses libusb to speak directly to the cutter.
If this were my day job, I'd persevere and try some of the hacks to Wine to pass through USB devices to Windows userland. Since my Mum wants to use her cutter now, I have no choice but to tell her to go buy a copy of Windows.
