PageMaker 7.0 Forum

1) I Installed using Office Setup => Install => Install unsupported applications. Chose default settings. No apparent problems during install.

2) No menu entry was created. I started the app with
/home/joe/cxoffice/bin/wine --workdir "C://Program Files//Adobe//PageMaker 7.0" --check --cx-app "c://Program Files//Adobe//PageMaker 7.0//Pm70.exe"

3) The Font Substutution window appears correctly when loading documents that specify fonts that aren't on the system. However it's 'moded out' until you click on the 'Opening a copy of...' progress bar window and back again.

4) Help => Help topics doesn't work - hangs for a minute then returns to PM.

5) Other than that I haven't found any problems (haven't done a lot of using / testing though).

Help seems to be a recurring theme in windows applications in wine. However the creation of icons is easily fixed. for some reason I too had this problem but fix this by doing a combination of things. First off make sure you have a win98 template bottle. Second before installing Pagemaker install the adobe acrobat. If you don't have it install reader which is included under supported apps. When you install page maker the icons should be created. If they are not it helps to try installing other software that create icons first. For some reason if another application has not created an icon first pagemaker has problems creating icons. I always have this issue when installing pagemaker or photoshop in a win2000 bottle no matter what I do. Not sure why though... It's good to have acrobat installed anyway since pagemaker works with acrobat to create pdfs.
