Version Numbers

Heya all,

I'm actually just slightly curious why we have sooo many version numbers? I mean Firefox is now v. 32.0, wouldn't this gradually build up to gosh knows how much? Is there another way to test this application without forming an almost unnecessary backlog of different versions... ._.

Cheers,

PS: I get that different version numbers may not work with each other, but surely there's a way to update that status without having this many appIDs for just one browser?

Well, it could be interesting to see how various versions of FF perform on CX but the issues are:

1) nobody actually tests every version on current CX
2) nobody consolidated all the entries under a Mozilla Firefox category

I guess an easy way to deal with this would be to just have a main Firefox crosstie and create additional ones only if the main version breaks or something. World of Warcraft was in a similar situation and as a recall it was a PITA to consolidate all the versions.
