In order to get this working properly, I had to make the following changes to the Steam bottle:
1. Control Panel -> WINE Configuration -> Graphics -> Emulate a virtual desktop = checked
2. Set the virtual desktop to a reasonable size. 1600x823 worked well for me on a 17.3" screen.
3. Audio -> DirectSound -> Hardware Acceleration = EmulationThis enables great graphics and sound for this game under Ubuntu 10.10 with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 460M. YMMV.
On Ubuntu 11.04 beta 1, this continues to work. In addition, it seems that DirectSound is better supported, and hardware acceleration can be turned on:
**Audio -> DirectSound -> Hardware Acceleration = Full**However, this game still requires the virtual desktop to avoid video issues.
