With the impending Update 5 release the Lotro client will provide
functionality to manage Mods / plugins (like Palantir, Moorsmap,
Buffbars etc) directly within the game. It will be possible to
choose plugins that will load automatically on a per-character
basis.
Does anyone have any idea if this will cause problems with playing
Lotro on a Mac using Crossover Games? I use plugins when I play on
my home PC but don't have plugins installed on my Mac. I would like
to set these to load automatically instead of manually on my PC but
am worried that when I start up Lotro on my Mac post-update 5 this
may cause problems.
Lua's work fine under CXG 10.2 and Lion 10.7.2...
I don't suppose anyone invited to beta test update 5 on Bullroarer
was able to test using Crossover? Maybe that was not possible??
Sadly, I didn't get word that Update 5 was available on Bullroarer until Tuesday evening, when the beta ended at noon on Wednesday... so, other than verifying that "it works" I didn't get around to doing any particular testing with Turbine's Manager. Plus, none of the current plugins are modified to utilize any of its "features."
To get your plugins to load "almost automatically," use Shady's Manager and configure a shortcut to "/plugins load manager". With one keystroke then, you load Manager and it in turn loads all of your favorite plugins.
You can configure Manager to load whichever plugins you want for each character.
On lotrointerface.com, the Manager is called -- PluginManager by Cearbhall

The file extracts into "Shady"
Other plugins I actively use:
TonicBars
BuffBars
Travel Window
Travel locations reference
And I've just started playing with:
MoorMap
