Hi there, I hope someone out there can help with this.

My issue is Lotro was launching fine when I was using Monterey on Crossover 21. When I upgraded to Ventura, I needed to upgrade to Crossover 22 to get it to work. Unfortunately however, after pressing Play on the installer, Lotro now fails to launch. I've since deleted both Lotro and Crossover, but since the new Ventura software update came out a few days ago I'm wondering if this issue has been fixed.

Has anyone else attempted a fresh Lotro install recently on Ventura, and if so how did they get it to work? I've almost given up ever playing Lotro on my MacBook ever again. It's very frustrating to have paid for a game that used to work fine.

I'm playing WoW for my MMO fix, but it's just not the same :p

Most people are not experiencing this problem. However, as I describe at the LOTRO Mac Technical Support Forums, there are a significant number of people who have not been able to get LOTRO to run successfully with Crossover 22 after successfully running LOTRO with Crossover 21. The solution for all of these folks was to delete Crossover 22 and reinstall Crossover 21. Unfortunately, Crossover 21 will not run under MacOS Ventura. I have not been able to determine why some people experience this problem and others do not as I have reports of both success and failure with Intel Macs and Apple SOC Macs, running versions of MacOS from Catalina through Ventura.

You have a couple of options:
–Roll back to MacOS Monterey.
–Create a new APFS volume and install Monterey onto that.
–Install Monterey onto an external drive (there are extra complications involved with booting from an external drive with an Apple SOC Mac).

I cannot replicate this problem myself so I can’t submit a useful report to Codeweavers. I suggest you do so. Then come to the Mac Technical Support Forum at forums.lotro.com if you need detailed instructions for getting a pre-Ventura boot volume ready for use with your Mac.

Hello, same problem on MacBookPro14,2 pro intel.
LOTRO cant pass to character selection screen and freezes at loading, music still playing though.
After min macos completely freezes and go to reboot.

I have this log after reboot.

I also tried 32bit version, but it never starts at all. (game mode 1 & d3d9 & FullScreenWindowed).
I have win7 64 bottle also tried win10 64 with no luck.

Please copy/paste the contents of your ~/Documents/The Lord of the Rings Online/UserPreferences.ini file into your reply as well, redact your user name from the pasted contents to protect your privacy.

I'm sure we can fix you up but I need that information first.

1- Don't use Gcenx's "fixes" – he says himself on that page to NOT use them, Crossover 22.1.1 includes those fixes.

2- Set your LOTRO bottle type to Windows 10. You can do so with "Wine Configuration" which you'll find in the CONTROL PANELS section of your main Crossover window.

3- Install "DirectX for Modern Games" into your LOTRO bottle.

4- Look at the ADVANCED SETTINGS section of the main Crossover window. Be sure that DXVK is checked ON and that everything else is checked OFF.

5- Go to your ~/Documents/The Lord of the Rings Online folder and look in the [Render] section. Change the line GraphicsCore=D3D11 to GraphicsCore=D3D9.

6- Still in your ~/Documents/The Lord of the Rings Online folder, look in the [Troubleshooting] section. Change the line MaximumFrameRate=121 to MaximumFrameRate=60.

7- Restart your Mac.

8- Launch Crossover. Attempt to run the game.

9- If the client fails to launch, report back here and tell me if you were ever asked to give LOTRO permission to access your Documents folder and to use your microphone.

I'm on DirectX 9 now, dunno how but game finally launched, I have 40 to 60 fps, i'm happy 😊.

Ok. I managed how to run DirectX 11 with Iris Plus Graphics 650.
You need to use custom dxvk https://github.com/italomandara/CXPatcher and turn off post-processing setting in game which cause problem with hard reboot and glitches.

In result i got more stable FPS in loaded area.
But keep in mind this disclaimer https://www.codeweavers.com/support/forums/general/?t=27;msg=257865.

PS Maybe it will work without patching CrossOver, i dont know, you can try disable post-processing first via editing game ini file. Check this setting VideoPostEffects=False
