Yes, there are issues running LOTRO via PyLotRO and CrossOver with 11.2

I don't yet have much information, but basically, with Yesterday's patch - 11.2 - (Wednesday 24 July).
There were significant changes to the Launcher.

However, there is nothing "noteworthy" in the Release notes.

The Mac Client (which has been the test bed for this new launcher) has worked fine for me so far since the patch.

However, trying to run via Crossover and PyLotRO is "interesting." I have just begun to investigate, so this is only a partial report.

PyLotRO "patches" as one would expect ... up to a point.
It ends with the following dialog:
=<cut here>=
Self patch required. Program will restart.

Connecting to patch.lotro.com:80

Checking files...
files to patch: 1 bytes to download: 0
Patching files:

Downloading patchclient.dllFile in use. It will be self patched.

Self patch required. Program will restart.

Finished
=<cut here>=
The above is "normal" and routine. What happens next is not.

At this point PyLotro (itself still running) launches the "LOTRO Patcher" to do the rest of the patching...
which promptly fails after downloading the 30 transition screens....

SIgh... more work to be done.

I should add... at this point, you are dead in the water. Can't patch ... can't continue.

To get further, you can replace patchclient.dll with a "fresh copy" and patch again. That will get you somewhat further in the process, but it will still fail after accepting your userid and password and once you have accepted the NEW EULA and TOS, (which both now have 17 July dates), with the infamous "cannot patch" failure.

anything I can do to help? or has there been any new on this front?

CX is the only way I can play at work. I had just got it all to work and then this update came out. Bummed me out.

The SImple answer -- don't use PyLotRO...

Especially with 12.5 (and I believe 12.4.x) simply launch the Turbine Launcher directly.

It's "buried" -- ... where every you have your bottles -- typically ~/Library/Application Support/CrossOver/Bottles...
<bottle-name>/drive_c/Program Files/Turbine/The Lord of the Rings Online/TurbineLauncher.exe

Simply double click on it... that should launch CrossOver for you. Once you have "The Ring" in your Dock... right click select "Options/keep in dock"... and you can launch from there in the future.

I should add.. using the TurbineLauncher.exe will take care of all the necessary patching. Which as usual, typically takes about 20-45 minutes.

All that is doing for me on 12.5 is sitting at downloading EN splash. I have gone your site and put the files in place. I have also let it sit for about 15 minutes at just the download EN splash with no movement.

I've tried installing LotRO using CrossOver 12.5, based on the recommendation that this should allow using Turbine's own launcher instead of PyLotRO.

Sadly, I am still getting error messages pertaining to one of the DLLs in the .Net 1.1 framework, so TurbineLauncher.exe simply crashes at launch.

Running under Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.

I believe you are getting the "double-patch" problem... i.e. the Launcher is patched and then re-launched to continue. This is actually normal.

However, often when that happens, the file "Patchclient.dll" and/or "Patchclient2.dll" (which is what is being patched) does not get re-written.

THe solution... copy the missing file from the "backup" folder, and re-launch... everything should be happy again.
