Request for What it takes to become Avocate:
The IPSoftphone is one of two applications which I can not translate to Linux (Fedora 7 beta tester). IPSoftphone is one...

Our company uses Avaya's phone system. I can get the base "messagemanager" (checks voicemail) to work under wine, but the wine coder forum has alluded to the fact that the TAPI interface for WINE is coded but lacks some major components.

I had Crossover in the past but need to find out what is the process to request "advocate status of this software" and what the requirements are. I am NOT a coder. I do NOT know C and so code level issues I can not directly address. What I CAN do is collect details of debug and submit for review and am GLAD to test.

Buisness Reasoning: I can say that this application is a very useful in helping corporate users transfer from Windows to Linux. This issue is that that the standard Linux H323 and SIP clients do not work because Avaya mucked with their authentication protocol and I have ZERO help from Avaya.
(I have emails from Avaya and submitted log outputs to the egika forums which document this)

The drawback to diving into this is that if companies have purchased the new SIP gateway for their Avaya systems then their the standard Linux SIP clients will work(rumored but not tested). Issue is this is a $10k second server which means companies like mine have no plans on purchasing it... hense my desire to work with this product.

Other things I have tested is running the IPSoftphone suite under VMWare Workstation (beta 6 tester) and now in VMWare Server. The issue is VMWare can inferace audio OUT but not IN.

Question:
1) With my skill base can I become and Advocate for this software?

2) Does crossover work on Fedora 7?

3) I don't mind purchasing the codeweaver product because I have abandoned the Evolution project due to code stability and so have need for Microsoft Lookout on Linux.... but what product is recommended if I would be allowed to take advocate status of this? (aka can I get by with the cheaper basic version:>) ... it is my money were talking about).

Update:

Avaya IPSoftphone Version R5.24.8
Error in testing minimal requirements available. Missing TAPI device

Update to the note posted about this application the error reflecting a missing TAPI device will not allow the install to continue in error.... what you do is "cancel" the test and instead of it exiting the install it will complete.

The R5.24.8 for langeuage is a dropdown in the first selection and just click "next" and it will list English as the language in a checkbox (but it is greyed out from changing).

Question:
1) How do I "manually" create a TAPI device in Crossover?
