hanging during installation

Using a trial of crossover mac on macbook pro running OS X 10.4.10:
installed crossover
opened it
clicked to continue w/o install disk 1 (not in same place as disks right now) and the quartz file
clicked try now
clicked crossover software installer
then IE 6
next is the screen that says "to automatically download an installer, select a url from the list below" and shows a highlighted link to a dysfunctional page "to learn more about this installer or download a package by hand here" and then below is "installer source" and a pulldown menu that says "cached installer file: ie6setup.exe" on the only item on the menu.

I clicked on "install" and then the program hangs while looking for "dcom95.exe" in "Users/Myusername/Library" etc.

Finder says there is no such file on my computer.

So....what did I do wrong?

I just want to see if I can run a particular IE website (proprietary, requires sign-in, so probably not available for test drive help) that requires active X controls and an update patch to run even on IE 6 for windows, before paying full bucks for the software or an bleeping microsoft license. If it won't work, there's no point.

figured it out--the "hanging" was because I did not have crossover installed, and did not realize that little microsoft windows "windows" were popping up and demanding attention, but popping up in odd locations, generally hidden by the mac windows in front of them. So once I started looking for a window requesting a click every time it hung, and clicked as requested, it was golden.

After payday, I'll be paying up for this program--it's a keeper.

I'm glad you got that worked out. As you've discovered, one of the problems that occurs if you can't provide quartz-wm is that windows don't come forward or get focus when they should.

Cheers. :)
