Keyboard issues

Hi,

I have a MacBook Pro (late 2008) and GW works awsome with CrossOver Games 7.1.
There is one issue though, when I write it just shows meaningless icons. For example, when I write some word in english it just comes up as "›†®µı›".
All the functions work flawlessly, it's just that.
(I have to write my password somewhere outside of GW and copy it in to even log on)

Regards / Ted

First, you should try the unsupported 7.1.2 build at http://www.codeweavers.com/account/downloads/?_dl=unsupported to see if it's any better.

Second, what language is your Mac set to use. Also, what keyboard layout are you using? You can check in the International pane of System Preferences, the Language tab for the former, the Input Menu tab for the latter.

If you use the Run Command dialog (from the Programs menu) to run the command "notepad", can you type properly in Notepad?

Yes it did work to write in notepad, but the update did the trick!
(I tried before to change to different languages, and for the record I have a Swedish layout)

Thanks alot, now there will be little to no reason for me to run GW in bootcamp =)

Thanks once again, I couldn't be much more pleased with this product!

Hmm, now I noticed what's wrong.
I don't know if it ever worked before the update, but now it works only if I never leave the crossover app (for example, if I use safari for a sec).
Then when I come back to GW it was all like before.
Nothing I can't live with, endlessly better than before (if it wasn't the same then).
But still something that would be so nice if it worked.

EDIT
Odd, it doesn't behave that way now, maybe I did something I didn't think of and thought it was because of the app switching... I'll test it out some more!
EDIT 2
Now I think I know what's the problem atm. It's when I switch spaces while GW is still active, then it becomes all funky when I switch back. But if something else is in focus I can switch spaces with no difference in GW. If this is the case, I'll be just fine, as I know how to avoid it!
EDIT 3
Ok, now I really know what's going on atm. It's when I use the alt-key (wich I use to change spaces) that messes up all the typing. But if I go back to GW and press alt+up arrow, it all works as normal. Problem solved 8)

Ah, good sleuthing! As you figured out, when you switch away from CrossOver using an Alt key combination, it sees the key-down event for the Alt key and passes that along to the Windows application. It doesn't see the key-up event for the Alt key, because CrossOver is no longer front-most. The result is that CrossOver/Wine are stuck thinking they should be producing alternative characters for the keys you subsequently type. (On most Mac keyboard layouts, you can access additional characters by holding down the Alt key.)

Typing Alt-up-arrow is nudging CrossOver/Wine into figuring out that the Alt key isn't really still being held down.
