PLEASE HELP! 'Failed to Bind to Surface' Downloading 0KB (0KB/sec)

Still having this problem, using the -dx9single code in the run command and it just keeps going but no download. Tried the -useoldinstaller as well, didn't do anything. The Guild Wars 2 installer page pops up with the black background, but just sits at 0KB/sec. The Run Command just keeps running and running and eventually I get an Arena Net error, I say OK, then I get a Crossover error that says 'failed to bind to surface'. I let it run all night last night and still nothing. Don't know what else to do, other seem to be able to get this to work. I'm on a MacBook pro early 2011, 2.7 GHz i7, 4 GB memory, OS X 10.8.1. and an admitted troglodyte.

Sounds like you have a similar if not the same MBP as me. What version of Crossover are you running?
Is this GW2.exe or GW2Setup.exe??

I'm running CrossOver Version 11.2 (11.2.0.26241), I originally had the GW2setup.exe from the GW website. Then from reading the threads i followed a link and got the GW2.exe file, so now that's what I've been trying to use.

Yeah I was having the same problem.

I finally gave up and I'm going to instal on a windows PC then transfer over and try from there.

I wish this worked. I have a fully operational copy of GW2 on parrallels, which of course gets about 1fps with low settings. I tranfered the files from there to my desktop on mac, but i still get the 0kb screen.

Have you made sure you have the right ports on your internet open?
"Guild Wars 2 requires TCP ports 80, 443, 6112 and port 6600 be fully unrestricted and accessible, both inbound and outbound. For further information about opening ports or port forwarding, you can visit the following website: http://www.portforward.com Please note, this site is not affiliated with or supported by NCsoft or ArenaNet."

Not sure if thats the issue but it couldn't hurt to check?

I have the game fully downloaded, but the launcher just doesn't function, even with the dx9single command. I'm not really sure how to get around this one, and it's quite frustrating.

Doesn't have anything to do with the ports, mine are open.

Any ideas?

I'm having the same problem.

Could we get one combined thread of installation of the release version of the game, or preferably an updated Tips and Tricks page from someone who has this figured out?

Would be nice to have this. Still haven't been able to figure it out. Not quite sure how to make a combined thread.

If anyone has figured out a fix to this issue could you please help us out?

OK!!! I think I finally got it figured out.

You need to make sure you have DirectX Modern installed into the bottle first of all. After you have done that, make sure you add the following registry keys. Once you do that, the launcher should work! If you need any help, please let me know and I will do my best to walk you through it.

3 - Enabled the DirectX Modern setting for the bottle. This is done by performing the following steps:
Configure -> Install Software, then choose in Runtime Support Components the package Microsoft DirectX Runtime Modern. Install it in the Guild Wars 2 bottle.

3 - Created the following registry keys in the bottle:
HKCU/Software/Wine/Direct3D/FixedVShaderLimit = 275
HKCU/Software/Wine/Direct3D/SafeVsConsts = enable
HKCU/Software/Wine/Direct3D/UseGLSL = enabled
HKCU/Software/Wine/Direct3D/VideoMemorySize = 512
