Program Freezes When Minimized

The program Freezes when you switch between E-sword and another program. This only occurs when you hit the minimize button on the E-sword window (to work in a word processing program) and then bring it backup again from the dock. If you quit crossover and relaunch the program it works until you repeat this process. Also, if you do not minimize e-sword to the dock the program works fine as well.

With Crossover Mac we're using the X11 window manager instead of the native Mac OS Quartz window manager and so what you're seeing is the X11 window getting stuck. A workaround is in Crossover go to the Configure menu, Manage Bottles, highlight the e-Sword bottle in the list on the left, Control Panels tab, Wine Config, Graphics tab, and then tick 'Emulate Virtual Desktop' and set a size like 1440x900. That will force the X11 window into a native Mac OS Quartz window and should prevent the application from appearing to freeze.

We're working on switching Crossover to use the Quartz window manager and we hope to have this functionality out later this year.

A bit more info on e-Sword freezing when minimized/maximized:

You'll notice when you minimize e-Sword that the entire program shrinks down to a tiny picture of the open program on your dock. So, you've got the e-Sword icon and a tiny representation of the open program window. You'll get the freeze if you click on the e-Sword icon to bring the program back up. If you click on the tiny representation of the window, itself (not the e-Sword icon), the program will return in an un-frozen state.

Setting the program to run in an emulated virtual desktop, as described in the above post, will prevent e-Sword from popping back up, at all, when you click on the e-Sword icon. You'll need to click on the shrunken window in the dock to bring it back.

So, the emulate virtual desktop option eliminates some confusion in that it's no longer possible to bring up the frozen window, at all, but in order to re-maximize the program you'll still need to click on the tiny window in the dock. For this reason, emulating a virtual desktop isn't really necessary to correct this behavior, but it'll help you remember because it prevents the frozen window from occuring in the first place.
