DDO opena32dll

Hi,

after a week of trial with CxG 8, I'm considering to buy it, but I experienced some problems.

I installed both DDO Unlimited and Stormreach (EU version). The game runs amazingly well and the mouse works by far better than with parallels (except it doesn't let me to keep mouse button pressed for attack).

However the game freezes and quits very often, and it always gives me this error:

"OPENA32DLL - Still didn't find exact match, picking first"

I know this is a common issue but nobody seems to have a workaround for this, so I just wanna know if someone managed to let the game work.

thanks

LotRO & DDO share the same engine so performance tweaks for one should work for the other. My guess is that the only tweak you might need to make is setting how much graphics memory you have, that certainly tends to sort most random crashes for LotRO.

Thanks! Problems almost solved (I played for 2 hours without crashes).. and CxG now purchased :)

Hi, these are helpful tips, but I still have a question -
I have a pretty much brand new iMac with 8 Gb of RAM, and an ATI Radeon card powering my 27 inch screen, but it only shows 512Mb of VRAM.

Is that a lot? A little? I get random crashes while running down an alley, when switching instances, etc. I run the computer (and game) at 2560x1440 resolution and - to be honest - it's worth crashing every now and again to get such amazing graphics. It's like a different game compared to my winXP box.

But could someone put the VRAM I have in context? It would be helpful to know if I'm bringing on the crashes by overwhelming my system. It would be hard to accept, since the computer is pretty first-rate, but I guess I could dial back the settings a little if it would make a difference.

I just don't want to.

512MB is more than most people will have, I'm a bit out of date with what is the current average but my guess is somewhere around the 128-256 mark so your problem isn't due to a lack of memory.

It could however be due to Crossover Games not recognising how much video memory you have and using it's default value (64MB I think, might be less). On the page in the link it explains how to manually set your graphics memory, try that to see if it stops the random crashes.

well, did that, still got bounced. maybe bounced a little less? not sure. more later

Well, I'm running the game in windowed mode at 1600x1000 resolution and it is pretty stable. It crashes more often if I activate Pixel shader. However I have a couple of minor problems.

  • The keys of the keyboard jams often at random. When it happens you must release that key and then tap it again to stop jamming.

  • The right mouse button can't be held. If you press the button and keep it pressed it equals to a single click.

any suggestion?

I use the magic mouse, with no buttons, and am able to "hold down" the attack button, but not the other button while attacking.
I've never had the jamming key problem. I have had the game think I wanted to keep running wildly when what I really wanted to do was defend myself, but i think that's cuz i mix typing and keyboard commands sometimes. I didn't recognize the "R" command to STOP running, though.

A more relevant question (to me) is what the maximum resolution of your screen is? Is the 1600x1000 at the limit of your hardware? It's possible my problem is that I'm running the game at the absolute limit of my iMAC, which is the 2560x1440. I'd hate to turn it down, but if I could drop a few notches and NEVER crash, I'd probably do it.

I'm running the game on a double quad-core MacPro, my max resolution is 1920x1200 and never tried the game at this resolution (I think it would work too). As I said, I believe pixel shader is the cause of crashes, so maybe try to disable it (it looks a bit ugly expecially the water, but it gains greatly in stability).

I'm using magic mouse too.

I couldn't find "pixel shader" controls. Turned down most of the graphics settings (which made me cry a little) and then STILL had random crashes.

So now I'm back at 2560x1440. I'll probably reset the other setting to ultra-high if there's no benefit to leaving it simpler. It adds a level of complexity to the game to be scrambling to get back in before the monsters kill you.
