DDO fail

I try to launch DDO and it says program error: the program dndclient.exe has encountered a serious problem and then it makes me close the program I cannot figure out what is wrong I do know that this happened only after i ran the patch that came out today on 11/12/2012 does anyone know what is going on. BTW it worked last night.

This is via mac

same issue here, I get a crash before it even starts. No load screen, not even the splash screen.

Here is the log I sent to codeweaver when I put a ticket in this afternoon.
In the mean time I am attepting to reinstall from scratch.
This is going to take all day so I will post after completely reinstalled and updated.

Yes im sorry to say this but glad to see another person with this issue because I really dont know what to do sorry it happened to you though I also sent a ticket to crossover post here if you get a response please :D

Now I have tried to reinstall and such and everything has messed up cannot even get to the account login screen not sure what is going on but this is ridiculous

I have the same problem (OSX Mountain Lion), tried to reinstall => issue stays

Sad days

Well have done some searching found some good news but not a resolution for the near future a mac ddo client is in the works just probably months away

There is nothing that says they are working on a DDO mac client

It says they are working on Lord of the Rings Mac Client
Not one post in there is from anyone but regular members.
There is alot of "I want it availible on Mac" posts

When a Developer posts that they are working on a Mac version then I will believe it.
Until then, this was the only way I have to play it.
AND It appears that there will be no playing on Mac OS X until this issue is figured out.

Well, at least it appears I'm not the only one in Update 16 hell :)

Apparently, there is a fix to this, but you have to be a Wine expert to actually perform the operation. And, I'm sorry, but I'm no wine expert.

All Wine users are experiencing the same fatal error as of Update 16, and being shut out of the game. However, it appears that they have a strong, lively and bright community to back them up.

Looks like this same thing happened when turbine did an update to Lord of the Rings not very long ago, and someone created a patch for Wine to make it work with the game, again. Users have been applying this patch to their Wine installations, and are getting back into DDO in spite of Update 16. This is the fix we need, but how we are supposed to get it is beyond my capabilities.

I read the Release Notes, and it seems like they "Fixed" some memory leaks, this could be related with the page fault we get. Some of my hopes are they made a grave bug in it and they will fix it by the next patch-monday.

So I put in a support ticket, too. I saw Sav's below mine; I didn't bother to add the error message again, I just referenced his ticket. But, I did, however, point them in the Wine direction, and the patch that Wine users are using to solve the problem and play tonight. I went onto the support IRC chat earlier and talked to a codeweaver staff member and he basically told me that it was extremely hard for the standard user to even try to manipulate Wine from inside Crossover, and that Crossover would have to include the patch in an update to include a patch for Wine. This is not good news to me, because I mean really how long is it going to take for them to come out with another version of Crossover when they just came out with an updated version not too long ago? And, even if they do come out with a new version of Crossover, LOL, who's to say they even grab our Wine patch and implement it into the next update! ehehehehhe, oh I'm just full of optimism.

@Developers Codeweavers: a solution for wine is available and reported to work on linux

More info is available here, didn't examine it closer though

So, I got a response back from my ticket, so did Sav. We both pretty much got the same response.

They, Codeweavers, are "well aware" of this issue; however, they are afraid of how implementing this fix into Wine might affect their larger userbase. Therefore, they are doing more testing to implement it safely into an update to Crossover which the staff member says would be no later than ... December 12.

I don't know about you guys, but I don't know what I'm going to do with my DDO time for an entire month... I guess watch more Netflix? :-/ For a month????

They said sorry for the inconvenience, but for me it's more than an inconvenience, it's a total lifestyle upset.

Hello, I just wanted to tell you that DDO still works fine in PlayonLinux using a patched wine engine. A friend who play DDO with me uses Mac and wineskin and it works for himself with right wine engine as well. Maybe you should try PlayonLinux/PlayonMac/wineskin until crossover is fixed? They are free programs!!

D.Slong

Any update or news about an update or a step by step wine update instructions?
