Werid Boxy Screen

Ok so Ive followed all the steps I could find,

Downloaded ddo hi res client
installed in an XP bottle from the crosstie
updated via pylotro
set emulate virtual desktop
set the openal32 in libraries

when I load up ddo, I get the initial DDO splash screen and then on the loading bar screen all I can see is the bar and text around it but behind that the screen is kinda blueish with white vertical/horizonal lines across the screen. Once the loading bar has finished, the screen goes blank except for the top left corner which still appears to be displaing that blue/white boxed screen.

Im running CXG 10.1.2 on a 2011 MBP 1gb HD6750

And you got a mousepointer that look vaguely like a hourglass tilted to the left?

Did the installation using crosstie and patched the game. Same result as you got.

Seems that helps.

which tip?

Client crashing before character selection.

If your client seems to run ... patches, and game begins to load, but "hangs" (crashes actually), just as the character screen is about to load try the following... (This works with 10.0.1)

Launch CXG
Use the pulldown, Configure/Manage Bottles; select your DDO bottle; select Wine Configuration.

Click the LIbraries tab.
To the right of the "New Override for the LIbrary" click on the triangle.
Scroll down the list to "openal32.dll"; Select it, click add.

This should bring up a highlighted entry in the "Existing Overrides" window below.

Click edit; select "Native (Windows)" click ok.
Close Wine Configuration; close manage bottles
Launch PyLotRO.

Log in and you should be good to go.

The "Splash Screen" (and later "teleport screens") are missing. They do not load as part of the Turbine Client, but are loaded by Turbine's launcher from a place different than the patches. PyLotRO cannot see them as a result.

See my website for more info as well as copies of those screens... they are just ads...

Great site, thanks for sharing.

Any chance you can put up the music from DDO again please?

Are the tips under section 3 still valid or where they part of the cross tie installation?

Must have missed making the files shareable when I swapped disks a while back.
They should be retrievable now.

I believe so. Although I've recently been told that the Video Memory change is no longer necessary as
WINE now correctly reads it... although I don't know what version of WINE that applies to.

The Vertex shader seems to be -- sometimes it is a problem, sometimes not.

OpenGL is a "toss-up." As with most all graphics "issues" some report "wonderful" some report "no difference."

Thank you for putting the music back up.

For the shader and stuff.
Asked because I am not understand how to change those those settings. Are they done in the game or under Wine (CGX)?

The Tips & Tricks I referred to are actually over on the LOTRO page at Codeweavers.

"Mac Tweaks, from the Forums"

Doh, didn't think of that. Thank you.

Did anyone try the new german Server Wayfinder? I am not abel to log on and I am not sure where to look.
Is it possible to log on a French or German server with an english installation?

For server status, check out....

I don't know if this actually works anymore, and/or if it is maintained.

Alternately "There's an app for that." "DDO Herald" (which indicates that Wayfinder is currently down), from "Odd Duck Computing... in the App store for iPhone. There is also a LOTRO Herald. Both are very nice apps, and free.

http://oddduckcomputing.com/

As far as I know, all servers support all clients... you just have to do your own translations.

Wayfinder is up. The App is reporting wrong. Logged on over Bootcamp.

Looks like either PyLotRO or the installation is missing something.

Just tried the installation from my bottle on a Win 7 VM-Ware VM. No problem loving into Wayfinder, however he did patch a few things. The DDO Launcher also reports Wayfinder as up, while the App lists it as down.

PyLotRO don't see those updates, but it seems CrossTie is installing an older version of PyLotRO. Following a link from the original author I got a newer version from Codeweavers site.
http://crossover.codeweavers.com/redirect/pylotro

This version patches the game. I would suggest updating the CrossTie.

Back to the issue with the new EU Server Wayfinder.
Copying back the version from my Win 7 VM, PyLoRO was not abel to log into Wayfinder. Since the installation is connecting to wayfinder with the original installer, the problem is PyLotRO.

Hmmm.... I'll ask folks to figure out what is happening here. I believe Wayfinder is a new server, so I suspect the old "IPaddress" issue again, but I don't know.

I'll also get the folks maintaining the CrossTie installer to check what version of PyLotRO is being dowloaded/installed.
As far as I know, there is only one version on the site, but since the URL is a "redirect" I don't know

Thank you :)

Had a look on the PyLotRO source. Possible the datacenter sends back faulty informations, after all the iPhone app uses the same source and reports Wayfinder as down.
It look a bit odd that the drop down get populated with Wayfinder first, since everything else is sorted.

Didn't had the nerve to set up something to inspect the object that comes back.
The original launcher uses this:
http://gls.ddo.com/GLS.DataCenterServer/Service.asmx
I am not sure what the Python Launcher uses, He seem to query Turbine for data centers.

PyLotRO logs what responses it gets ... The [E10] means it did not get a (valid) response on the status call to the Relm server.
<bottle>/drive_c/users/crossover/ApplicationData/PyLotRO...

The ".config" files are all XML. Off hand I forget which file is which... LotROLinux.config I believe is the data you enter.

Yeah... THe GLSDatacenter is returning wrong information ...
GLSDataCenter.conifg returns:

<World><Name>Wayfinder [DE]</Name><LoginServerUrl>(invalid service specified)</LoginServerUrl><ChatServerUrl>74.201.106.53:2900</ChatServerUrl><StatusServerUrl>http://stg-gls.turbine.com/GLS.DataCenterServer/StatusServer.aspx?s=10.67.112.53</StatusServerUrl><Order>0</Order></World>

<World><Name>Argonnessen</Name><LoginServerUrl>(invalid service specified)</LoginServerUrl><ChatServerUrl>74.201.106.56:2900</ChatServerUrl><StatusServerUrl>http://gls.ddo.com/GLS.DataCenterServer/StatusServer.aspx?s=10.67.112.56</StatusServerUrl><Order>1</Order></World>

Note the StatusServr entry. Wayfinder shows stg-gls.turbine.com all of the other entries show... gls.ddo.com

stg-gls sounds like "staging" ... if you use that http entry (at lease in Safari) nothing returns, but if you simply change the host name to gls.ddo.com (leaving the aspx?s ip address the same, you get the xml back for Wayfinder.

And for whatever reason, Turbine lists Wayfinder as "order" 0.

There is probably not an easy fix until Turbine fixes the GLSDataCenter-data. Which they many not do if their Launcher works.... :(

Their launcher works.
hm, there are a lot uncool options.

How about providing an corrected XML and the option to chose between the provided config or the one from the data center? I don't think that the IPs are going to change much. Maybe another menu item that do either when checked or not?

Question is, would that make sense for the time investment?

Interesting. The iPhone app you mentioned just got updated and shows now the server status proper. It takes Apple currently about 5 days to review updates, so he uploaded that fixed app to iTunes Connect a week ago.:)

Going to ask him how he fixed that.

Placed a Bug report with DDO Support as well. Don't think they will fix it, but worth trying.

Unless Apple changed/speeded-up the approval process for existing apps!

I reported the issue to OddDuck on the 2nd... guess somebody else reported it to them earlier. I know that at the time I last updated my iPhone... about 1800 EST yesterday (9/2) there was no update. So the update got posted sometime in the past 24 hours... It was there at 2330 on 9/3...

I haven't heard anything about PyLotRO, however.

According to DDO.com, it will get fixed in update 11.

Seems the bug report helped. No ETA on update 11 tough.
