Non-Steam Complete Edition with BTS Patch 3.19

$Subject works pretty well. BTS Patch 3.19 eliminates the DVD check. Only minor graphical glitches on my Macbook with all settings on low (health bars aren't displayed properly, see wine bug 14003).

How did you do it?

I'm having the same problem that you are. I downloaded the latest version of crossover games last night. I'm able to install and run Civ4 Complete with no issues except the city bars (food / production) do not show from the map view.

I installed it in a WinXP Bottle and selected the option for Steam from CD so that msxml3 and DirectX would install first. Also, if it matters, I have a new Macbook Pro 15 running Snow Leopard.

As Daniel mentioned, this issue is referenced in Wine BugID 14003. Comment #17 in this link states that it has been fixed in Wine version 1.1.28. From what I see using winecfg, the version of Wine is 1.1.25.

1) Is it possible to upgrade Wine within Crossover Games?
2) Has anyone else confirmed that Wine 1.1.28 fixed this bug?

This bug probably seems trivial to most people, but I've been playing Civ4 for years and I'm dependent on those city bars!

Hi,

1) no...Crossover Games uses a custom wine build, you can't meld in mainstream wine (not without considerable work anyhow)

2) not that I know of, but of course you could try with wine-1.1.28 yourself ;)

You are correct about the current Crossover Games wine version ; I'm hoping the
Crossover Games 9.0 release will base based on a winetree around the 1.1.31 mark,
but as yet, this future is unclear...

Cheers!

Thanks for the response Don. At what point are you guys planning to release Crossover Games 9.0? I looked into installing Wine, but it looks like I might use up an entire weekend trying to do so.

Brian

Hi Brian,

Well, I'm not a codeweavers staffer...but, if I were a betting man (which
I'm not ;), I'd guess at something like "sometime first 1/4 of 2010" - for
sure it'll be sometime after Crossover 9.0 (not games) is released, and that
hasn't happened yet....(must be close though)

Cheers!
