Does the Steam version work?

Anyone else able to get the Steam version to work, especially with mods specifically?
Initially tried the install Steam via Crossover --> Run Civ: crash during the initial loading stage
Then "installed into the Steam bottle" --> Able to launch via Steam --> Tried Rhyse and Fall --> Crashed on 2nd turn.

Will do other attempts & tests later.
