Tried this just to see how it looks given there are no other reports here.
The installer works fine, after downloading over 30G of files then needed Visual C++ 14.0 installed to actually play.
However at this point it fails, complaining it can't initialise security.
Doing some digging, even native Windows users have problems with Xigncode (their anti-cheat system) objecting to things like audio drivers and some graphics card drivers, so the chances of it working under Wine not good.
Xigncode is a problem for Windows too. I don't think that it will ever work with Wine. You can't play BDO in a VM by the way.
I have reached out to Pearl Abyss regarding Easy Anti Cheat preventing the game from running through Wine. I will update this thread with any news in regards to this.
As a second note, it is actually possible to run BDO through a VM, contrary to what the other message says. I was able to run BDO through Parallels and the performance is quite good, to get it to work properly you need to change a registry key within Windows on the VM. However, the last time I tested this was on an Intel Macbook via Windows 10, I am not sure if this will work the same for a mac with an. M1 (Apple Silicon) chip.
