Flawless installation and operation --- is this a solution for no-longer-supported Adobe Reader on Linux?

Many thanks to Carlos Rafael Ramirez and any others who worked on Cross Tie file for Adobe Reader XI. I installed Adobe Reader XI using Cross Tie on Lubuntu 14.04, 32-bit, and the complete installation procedure was flawless. I was immediately able to read and modify a PDF file with comments written using Adobe Reader on a Mac, make new comments, and send file back to Mac with zero hiccups!

One minor warning, that "Protected Mode" does not work, is, I believe, inconsequential, since applications are already, by default, sand-boxed under CrossOver, a huge security advantage.

Please note that Adobe has ended support for PDF Reader for Linux. It is still possible to install Adobe Reader 9.5.5, but not directly from Adobe web site:
http://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2014/10/install-adobe-reader-ubuntu-14-10/
and the process is convoluted and not necessarily robust or secure going forward. Additionally, Adobe Reader 9.5.5 only allows reading (but not modifying) "Comments" and lacks other important usability features of Adobe Reader XI.

As a result, the Linux community is looking for alternative PDF readers, but no complete solution exists at the moment:

In particular, the post above states that: "most of the extended forms will not work [with] Wine". Is this a limitation also with CrossOver installation of Adobe Reader XI? So far all the PDF files that I have read and features of Adobe Reader that I have tested have worked flawlessly.

Applications run with Wine or CrossOver are definitely not sandboxed. They're just containerized, sort of like docker containers.
