Here is what I did, maybe someone smarter than I can finish the installation.
I first installed IE into a win2000 bottle
I then told CrossOver to install Acrobat 8 Professional into the same bottle and I get it to bring up the startup screen.
I click next and it determines if enough space is present, then asks for my name, company and serial number. Next it tells me what programs it works with, i.e. Word, Excel, and so on. Then I tell it to do a typical install, I tell it where to install, it then starts installing. Finally it tells me that it is done. CrossOver simulates a reboot and I get a new link on my desktop to Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional. I double click and it brings up Adobe 8 and the License Agreement. I click accpet and then, it gives me the message:
"A serious error has been detected and the application cannot continue. If restarting your computer does not fix the problem, please reinstall the application and try again."
I then click ok to have it crash on me. I start it up a second time and now I get a message that says:
"Cannot find '%.1023ws'. Make sure the path or Internet address is correct."
If I ignore this, I can start using Acrobat 8, but the drop down box under the File button disappears. I thought maybe it wanted to be registered, so I go to Help and then Register. It tells me it is having troubling registering, so I click on "Register Now" anyhow and it tells me to make sure that I have Internet Explorer and that I also have JavaScript enabled. This is where I get stuck.
If I click on ok to the "Cannot find '%.1023ws', then I get a window titled "Getting Started with Adobe Acrobat Professional 8" and then the alert about the serious error. Once I click ok to the serious error, it crashes. After each crash it gives me the memory address of the problem and asks if I want to debug, but it does nothing if I click yes, and if I click no, it just goes away.
The window that pops up entitled "Getting Started with Adobe Acrobat Professional 8" is blank and displays nothing.
If I am attempting to run Acrobat and I startup IExplorer, IE tries to go to http://www.microsoft.com/isapi/redir.dll?prd=ie&clcid=0x0409&pver=6.0&ar=home . However it hangs on this and never gets to that site. If acrobat is not running, IExplorer goes straight to http://www.msn.com/ with no delay. I think the first redirects you to the second, but the first hangs.
I think it all has to do with activating Acrobat, because when I try and just run Acrobat Distiller 8, it gives me a popup stating that "Acrobat Distiller cannot continue because Acrobat is not activated." Then I can click cancel to quit Distiller or retry after activating Acrobat to continue. It also starts up Acrobat Professional 8, which gives me the common "Cannot find '%.1023ws' error.
Any help would be most appreciated.
